The Sanskrit term Virya represents “energy”, “enthusiasm” and “effort”. It is the determination and courage that keep us focused on the yoga path with a positive inner attitude. The yoga texts describe our true nature as infinite bliss and although the yoga path may be difficult at times we are dedicated to experiencing this process with joy, love and acceptance.

The Pure Virya Yoga Teacher Training shares classical yoga, soul movement and intuitive art with a strong emphasis on energy and our connection to nature. We believe everyone has their own path and will help reconnect you to your intuition and authentic expression.

The foundation of yoga teaches us how to live peacefully. This training will guide you to live a life of compassion towards all beings including yourself. Part of self-compassion is learning to express your own creativity. We will help you do this through therapeutic movement, experiences in nature, healing art and more.

The Pure Virya Yoga Teacher Training is led by an artist and dancer, both long time yoga practitioners, who are passionate about living their lives to the fullest and inspiring others to do the same. We look forward to sharing this beautiful path with you!

The Eight Limbs of Yoga – How Much Do You Know?

Yoga is much more than a physical practice. The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali share the 8 limbs of yoga as the remedy for pain and suffering. Find out how much you know about these limbs of the practice.

Join us in the multicultural, “unexpected” city of Winnipeg in Canada that always has a little something for everyone during the spring, summer, fall or winter time. (Watch video of Winnipeg)

You will spend most of your 3 week intensive training at our yoga studio, Yoga Public, the largest yoga centre in Canada with a schedule of over 100 classes per week filled with (hot) yoga, TRX, on demand cycle, meditation, specialty services like massage therapy, counselling & life coaching, ayurvedic & nutritional counselling, and more.

Meet Your Trainers

Sam Manchulenko

Sam is a yogi, professional dancer, adventurer and lover of life. She began practicing yoga and meditation as supplements to her dance training and fell in love with their ability to connect her to the same state of presence and flow that dance does. She has been pursuing the art of these beautiful practices for over 20 years ago.

Sam has completed over 1400 hours of teacher training with instructors including Shiva Rea, Seane Corn and her main influence and inspiration Sri Dharma Mittra as well as training in life coaching, forgiveness, vipassana meditation, Healing Touch and the Enneagram.Sam supports students in the self discovery necessary to truly live their practice off the mat. An avid traveller who loves learning from different cultures, she has taught yoga in Morocco, volunteered in Ghana, explored meditation in SE Asia, studied flamenco dance in Spain, whirled with the dervishes in Istanbul, and served as a karma yogi at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat in the Bahamas. Sam is passionate about living life to the fullest with a joyful heart and inspiring others to do the same.

Serge Salvador

Serge been recognised by his teacher M.S Viswanath fondly know as MasterJi by his student. He has made many trips to the foundation of Pathanjala Yoga Kendra in India in Bangalore India and study at the Krisnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Madras, India.

Like his teacher he believes that YOGA must always be adapted to the individual based on the individual’s culture, age, sex, physical state, interest, profession etc. Hence, serge ‘s classes are primarily conducted in the Mysore Style.

Mysore style was popularised by Masterji’s guru Sri. K. Pattabi Jois who like Masterji,his teacher hails from and taught primarily in Mysore. In this style, Yoga is taught and practiced in the more traditional way where students practice the Yoga series at their own pace, adding more difficult poses as they progress. It is a highly personalised approach to Yoga where one receives a one-to-one interaction with Serge Salvador and at the same time enjoy the group energy of a conventional class. By spending quality time with each of his students, Masterji ensures that he knows their practice inside out and can help them exactly where and when they need it.

Anyone can practice with Serge, irrespective of age, sex, background or level of experience. Serge’s classes are open to students with certain physical limitations or injuries; students who have not practiced for some time; students who are wishing to perfect their asana practice; advanced students who are looking to practice or learn asanas that are outside the Ashtanga Vinyasa system; students who are preparing for the Ashtanga Vinyasa practice and for students who are looking to acquire teaching skills.

How to Apply

There is a limited amount of space in this program. Applications will be reviewed as received and acceptance is on a first come, first served basis. Applicants must meet the following prerequisites:

  • Good physical and mental health

  • Commitment to learning the true practice of yoga and developing your highest self

  • Understanding that the program will be intensive and that attendance is mandatory for certification

  • Over one year practicing asana (physical yoga)

  • Willingness to complete the homework assignments and improve your life

A non-refundable deposit of $500 CAD will be due upon acceptance. Final payment for early bird registration must be made by early bird deadline date (to be announced). Regular tuition is due 21 days before the commencement of the course. The deposit cannot be refunded for students who withdraw after confirming their acceptance into the program but it can be used for a future Pure Virya. Please ensure you are committed to the program before accepting.

Acceptance is on a first come, first served basis. Please click on the Apply Now button above and complete the online form. Those admitted to the program will receive acceptance within two weeks of their application.

Early bird registration must have the deposit of CAN$500 be paid before the early bird deadline. The amount payable will be the total tuition plus gst (less your deposit of CAN$500). Tuition (minus deposit) will be refunded if you cancel 21 days prior to the training date. In the event of cancellation, your deposit may be used towards a future Pure Virya. Please ensure you are committed to completing this course before accepting admittance.

In order to receive your certificate you must attend all classes and complete the homework requirements. If you must miss a portion of the training, arrangements may be made for make up hours with the lead trainer. Private training fees may apply.
